INTRODUCTION: Pass/No Pass Grading Options

All students at Cayuga Community College may choose to take their semester courses Pass/No Pass (PA, PA-, PB+, PB, PB-, PC+, PC, PC-, PD+, PD, PD-, NP) for the Spring 2020 semester ONLY.

Guidelines for Pass/No Pass option:

  • Students will be permitted to choose the Pass/No Pass grading option for any Spring 2020 semester courses 
  • WF courses cannot be converted to a NP

Note: If you are receiving federal or state financial aid, and electing to change any courses to Pass/No Pass, your financial aid may be impacted for the current and/or future semester(s). We strongly encourage you to contact the Financial Services Office via email financialservices@cayuga-cc.edu, or by calling 315-294-8470. A Financial Aid Counselors will review your request and determine what impact, if any, your request for Pass/No Pass has on your financial aid.

When considering moving to Pass/No Pass, you should consider the following impacts:

  • A student may need GPA-impacting course grades to meet the institutional GPA requirement for graduation
  • A student may need GPA-impacting course grades to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress
  • Certain academic programs at Cayuga have minimum grade requirements for particular courses
  • Transfer plans could be impacted in some cases
  • A student may want GPA-impacting course grades to be competitive for undergraduate admissions, scholarships and other purposes external to the college
  • Programmatic accreditors may have requirements regarding the maximum percentage of courses that may be graded pass/fail and the particular kinds of courses that may be graded pass/fail
  • Licensure/certification-qualifying programs may be impacted by licensing/certification requirements
